If you want to build your own environmental home yourself, and just need advice or you would like us to build your home for you, from straw or mud brick building, we can help you.

Perhaps you may want to try your hand at building, and get 'down and dirty' and build yourself. We can quote you on building parts of your building for you. Just contact us with what you want and we will most certainly work out a solution for you within your budget.

One of our strongest skills is coming up with solutions for people. To build a new home or not to? What options do you have. Can you build a 'green' garage, start there and then go bigger. What is possible and what are the costs involved? These are normal questions so just ask them!

OR

You can 'retro fit' your existing home to be 'green'. Replace your existing walls with straw and earth walls, put in double glazed windows in the right place and you can revamp your home. Here are some photos of a house we have reto fitted/renovated in the Blue Mountains.

 Before

This was a very run-down fibro 1 bedroom house. Rather than demolish it, the choice was to keep the structure and foundations and add an extension, insulation (in roof and via straw in walls) and thermal mass (cobb walls and poured earth) to help regulate house temperature throughout cold and hot periods.

After

With newly rendered strawbale walls (on west and south side), earth/cobb walls on north walls and internal walls. We installed new timber windows and roof, replaced the existing hot water system with a solar hot water system, put in fluro lights throughout, installed insulation in the roof and used a roof blanket, added an extension out the back which takes in the northern sun, added on a timber deck, used colorbond cladding on some of the straw walls as this house is in a fire zone (although not necessary as earth render is fire rated). The bathroom and kitchen were totally gutted and replaced to best utilise light and space. It's an amazing turnaround to a run-down house which would otherwise be demolished. Now it's a gorgeous mountains cottage made from natural, earth materials, uses the sun more efficiently, without having to do a lot of costly structural changes.
